~Winter Weather Store Policy~ Since folks visit our store from all over the area, it's a good idea to make sure we're open before you trek out for fabric on a snowy day. Join us this Saturday for:  ~National Sew Day~ February 1st, 2020 at the Palmerton Library, 10:30am - 3:30pm For more details about this event and to register, please click HERE. Note that if you can't make it to the library for the event, you can sew at home but it is still necessary to register in order to be eligible for the contest. If you are planning to join the group at the library, don't forget to bring your sewing machine and quilting tools.  Start the new year right with a sharp pair of scissors! As a reminder, local professional Steve Hansut is still offering his sharpening services to our customers. How it works: Steve picks up scissors at the shop on Fridays and returns them to the shop the following Friday. Pricing will be as follows: Scissors with up to a 4-inch blade: $5.00 Dressmaker & Medium Scissors: $7.00 Please note: Payment is cash-only, due at pickup. Please note that some scissors can't be sharpened because of specific metal content and/or structural problems and all sharpening will be at Steve's discretion. If your scissors are unable to be sharpened, they will be returned at no cost to you. Scissors must be dropped off at the shop by 5pm on Fridays.  ~Moravian Star Class~ Instructor: Chris Stehle  Learn how to make a beautiful Moravian star out of fabric! This technique can be transferred to make stars out of paper. There are still a few spots open for this fun class and no pre-work is required. Sign up today! Date: Saturday, February 8th 10:30am - 12:30pm at the shop. Class fee: $11 Double sided fusible paper 3"x 22" (Steam a Seam) is included in class fee & will be provided during class. To register, you may either sign up online by clicking HERE or simply call the shop at (610)900-4700. ~"Glorious Hummingbirds" Picture Piecing~ Instructor: Diane Minor  Create a dramatic pictorial quilt using Cynthia England's pattern and design entitled "Glorious Hummingbirds". **The class is limited to 4 students with intermediate quilting skills.** This will be a 2-session class on consecutive Saturdays at the shop. Session ONE: Saturday, February 15th, 2020 10:30am - 2:30pm Session TWO: Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 10:30am – 2:30pm To register, please call the shop at (610)900-4700. You can also register on our website by clicking HERE. ~Chenille Snowman Wall Hanging~ Instructor: Cindy Mengel-Smith  A happy primitive Chenille snowman wall hanging (approx. 20" x 6") on a flannel background to help you get through the Winter blahs! You will learn an easy Chenille technique and have a nice wall hanging when you're done! Date: Saturday, February 29th, 1pm - 4pm at the shop This class is now full! ~Beginning Quilting by Machine - Spring 2020~ NEW! Instructor: Cindy Mengel-Smith  Make a crib size quilt from start to finish! This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabrics, to make your quilting journey a successful one. Eight 2-hour sessions every Friday OR Saturday from 10:30am - 12:30pm, starting on Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th. Note that both classes are limited to 4 students per class and tend to fill up quickly! Sewcial Guild -The next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, February 27th at 11am. The guild meets in the upper floor Gallery of the Palmerton Library, across the street from the Shop. Elevator access to the upper floor is available. Quilts of Valor - The next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, February 27th at 2pm after the Sewcial Guild meeting. ***As always, we'd like to remind you that groups and guilds are a great way to make new friends!
