The Quilted Crow was recently featured on BRC TV13's "Talk of the Town with Kim & Marie" Show  We'd like to thank TV13 for including the Crow in their broadcast as well as the guild members who were present in the shop during filming! (In case your web browser doesn't jump directly to the correct time, our segment begins at 31:54 into the video.) ~2019 Carbon County Fair Quilt Block Contest~   As a follow-up to last weeks' newsletter, pictured above is contest winner Judy Heffelfinger and her First Place block. Congratulations, Judy!  Just a reminder to our customers that we are still offering this service. Now is a great time to get those scissors sharpened so they're ready for your fall projects! How it works: Steve Hansut will be picking up scissors at the shop on Fridays and dropping them off on Friday of the following week. Pricing will be as follows: Scissors with up to a 4-inch blade: $5.00 Dressmaker & Medium Scissors: $7.00 Please note: Payment is cash-only, due at pickup. Note also that some scissors can't be sharpened because of specific metal content and/or structural problems and all sharpening will be at Steve's discretion. If your scissors are unable to be sharpened, they will be returned at no cost to you. Scissors must be dropped off at the shop by 5pm on Fridays. ~New "Show and Tell" gallery page added to our website~  Featuring 90 projects (so far) which have been brought into the shop for Show and Tell since we've moved to Palmerton, all of these pictures are now available for viewing on a single page. Passports are on sale now for $5.   This year's Hop will feature Toscana fabrics from Northcott.  2019 Passport Block  The Quilted Crow 2019 Shop Hop Block Please note that this year's list of participating shops has changed and you can view it by clicking HERE.  ~Pumpkin Rag Quilt or Wall Hanging Class~ Instructor: Cindy Mengel-Smith This great fall wall hanging quilt is made from homespun fabrics.  (click the image to view a larger version) In class, you will learn how to create the rag quilt which consists of diamond rag blocks and the base blocks for the pumpkins. You will then learn how to make the chenille pumpkins to appliqué onto your new wall hanging. Class Date: Saturday, November 23rd, 10:30am - 3:30pm Class fee: $30 ***Pre-work is required and will be provided upon class registration.*** To sign up, please call the shop at (610)900-4700 or click HERE to register online. ~Clockworx Quilt Class~ Please note: this class has been re-scheduled for January, 2020 and has been split into three sessions instead of two. Instructor: Sharon Gower This class uses the Clockworx 49” x 71” quilt paper-piecing pattern by Judy Niemeyer, which is a Cut Loose Press pattern. It is different than a traditional Quiltworx pattern in that it utilizes various tools and Charm Elements to create fast, fun, projects and layouts aimed at the beginner or a quilter that simply wants to try out a fast project, learn a new technique, or how to use a new tool.  This will be a 3-session class on consecutive Saturdays and will be held at the Palmerton Library located across the street from the shop. Session ONE: Saturday, January 4th, 2020 10:30am - 3:30pm Session TWO: Saturday, January 11th,2020 10:30am – 3:30pm Session THREE: Saturday, January 18th, 2020 10:30am - 3:30pm Class Fee: $60 (includes all three sessions) The Clockworx class also requires: (1) Clockworx Cut Loose Press Pattern - $3.50 (1) Charm Element Pack #20 – $24.50 (1) Add-A-Quarter Ruler Fabrics ***Pre-work is required and will be provided upon class registration.*** To sign up, please call the shop at (610)900-4700 or click HERE to register online. Sewcial Guild -The next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, October 24th at 11am. The guild meets in the upper floor Gallery of the Palmerton Library, across the street from the Shop. Elevator access to the upper floor is available. Quilts of Valor - The next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, October 24th at 2pm after the Sewcial Guild meeting. ***As always, we'd like to remind you that groups and guilds are a great way to make new friends!
