This 5-week Saturday program has been designed for the graduates of the Beginning Quilting by Machine Class. It will build on the skills taught in this class and expand your knowledge beyond the Nine Patch and Monkey Wrench blocks. Each week you will learn how to make two different twelve-inch blocks. If you make the blocks from the same coordinating fabrics, you will have a beautiful Sampler Quilt wall hanging at the end of the five weeks. Week 1 Log Cabin – objective: learn how to sew various size rectangles together to create this block Card Trick – objective: combine triangles to make this easy but complex looking block Week 2 Pin Wheel Star – objective: combine half square triangles using the correct color choices Bear’s Paw – objective: learn how to make 8 half square triangles at a time Week 3 Variable Star – objective: learn how to make hourglass squares Snail’s Trail – objective: learn how to make a 4 patch square and diamond within a square Week 4 Attic Window – objective: create this 3D look without Y seams 3D Churn Dash – objective: learn how to make flying geese & how to play with color to give this 3D effect Week 5 Crosses & Stars – objective: learn how use templates  The first session (Week 1) begins on Saturday, September 21st, 1:30pm - 3:30pm Pre-work is required so for more information about this program, please call the shop at (610)900-4700 ~English Paper Piecing~ Instructor: Pat Piasecki English Paper Piecing (EPP) is the technique of folding fabric over paper templates and then hand sewing them together. The paper template shape ensures the blocks are accurate and also makes it easier to piece angles together.  Pat will teach you how to make one of the 4 flower combinations shown above (your choice) using 2 different hexagon sizes. Date: Saturday, September 14th, 1pm - 4pm at the shop Class Fee: $20 Class Fee includes hexie templates and an applique' needle. Supply list will be provided upon registration. NOTE: This is a 2-part class on consecutive Saturdays and will be held at the Palmerton Library located across the street from the shop. Dates: Session ONE: Saturday, September 21st, 10:30am - 3pm Session TWO: Saturday, September 28th, 10:30am – 3pm Class Fee: $45 (includes both sessions) + Pattern ($12) + Fabric ***Pre-work is required and will be provided upon class registration.*** To sign up, please call the shop at (610)900-4700 or click HERE to register online. ~Beginning Quilting by Machine - Fall 2019~ Instructor: Cindy Mengel-Smith Make either a crib or lap size quilt from start to finish! Eight 2-hour sessions every Friday OR Saturday from 10:30am - 12:30pm, starting on Friday, September 6th and Saturday, September 7th. Friday classes are still open but there is only 1 spot left in the Saturday class.  This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabrics, to make your quilting journey a successful one.
