When referring to the name of our business, many have asked, “Why crows?” We are actually delighted with the question because it gives us the opportunity to explain, “Why crows?” Cindy has long had affection for the often maligned bird and has an extensive collection of “crow” artwork in her home. She says crows get a bad rap, and she doesn’t understand why since they are really God’s cleanup crew. Jane says, “That’s what we do in quilting! We take scraps and throw-away pieces of fabric, sew them together, and make something beautiful and artistic.” And so, the name, The Quilted Crow, was conceived. We thought that “The Quilted Crow” was a better name than “The Quilting Crows” or “Two Old Crows”! Karen Bilak, artist and owner of Redbud Ridge Quilts, designed the quilt block in our logo.
Cindy and Jane are delighted that the quilt shop is finally opened. It is the fruition of their dreams. Cindy has longed for a place to exercise her artistic talents and Jane her entrepreneurial abilities. When the quilt shop in a neighboring town closed, it gave us the opportunity of a lifetime.
The Quilted Crow provides high quality 100% cotton fabric from leading manufacturers of quilt fabrics such as Red Rooster, Moda, RJR, Benartex, Maywood, Timeless Treasures, Henry Glass, Thimbleberries, and other top of the line manufacturers. The fabric is sold by the yard, fat quarters, fat eighths, jelly rolls, charm packs, layer cakes, cinnamon buns, as well as in kits and block of the month packages. We also carry a line of wool for appliqué projects. We carry a full line of notions and books and patterns. Our classes will include quilts and specialty techniques, wearables, home decorations, bags and aprons. Check out ‘classes’ on the website for a current listing of what is being offered.
