Greg's Corner #1

"Introduction"

The first thing that immediately struck me after starting my employment here is the passion that quilters have for what they do, and every single person who comes into the shop seems to share this passion.  I find this enthusiasm quite refreshing to be around.

Another thing I've noticed from the start is how friendly and helpful quilters are to each other.  I routinely see strangers in the shop asking each other about fabric combinations, pattern recommendations, etc. - the "Generosity of Quilters" that you hear so much about is not just a saying - I see it in action every single day.

All of which brings me back to the person reading this who has always wanted to try quilting but may feel intimidated by learning something new.  The message here is that help is never far away, all you have to do is ask for it.  In addition to the classes we offer for all skill levels at the shop and the various quilting groups who regularly meet here, the staff is glad to answer your questions, make recommendations and give you a gentle nudge in the right direction when you need it.

So again, if you’re thinking about getting started with quilting, why not do it today?  As with any hobby, we all need to start somewhere.  Besides, any beginners out there can take comfort in the fact that they can't possibly be starting out from any further behind than I am here.

Next time, we’ll discuss some general quilting terms, once again aimed toward the beginner.

See you then!
